American Airlines: Project Wingman Run in tandem with the Allied Pilots Association (APA), this program resolves the vast majority of calls peer-to-peer without needing to escalate to medical providers. 817-823-7965
Delta Air Lines, Jet Blue, Quantas: Pilot Assistance Network (PAN) A volunteer-driven committee that operates a 24/7 hotline to support Delta pilots facing psychological, physiological, or medical difficulties. 800-673-7150
United Airlines: SOAR (Support Outreach Assistance Resources) United ALPA’s confidential program helps pilots navigate anxiety, depression, grief, and other challenges with a focus on safely returning them to the flight deck. 866-653-SOAR (866-653-7687)
Southwest Airlines: Project LIFT Run by the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA), this serves as the dedicated mental health and critical incident response team for Southwest pilots. 214-722-4248
National Airline Pilot Association (ALPA) Pilot Peer Support: 309-PPS-ALPA (309-777-2572)
Vertical Aviation International (VAI): Peer Pilot Program A confidential network matching helicopter pilots (corporate, air ambulance, offshore) with peers who understand the high-stress missions of vertical aviation. Fill out their form to be connected with a peer.
NBAA: MedAire Wellbeing Services Powered by "Talk to a Peer," this program gives business aviation professionals 24/7 access to trained peers who understand the unique, irregular schedules of corporate flying. Fill out their form or email [email protected] to be connected with a peer.
Centre for Aviation Psychology (CAP): Allows smaller operators to join a shared network, giving corporate pilots access to peers and aviation psychologists without the overhead of an independent program. This program includes dedicated peers for small operators, business operations, and rotary wing operators.
AFA Employee Assistance Program (EAP): AFA runs one of the most successful, specialized peer support networks in the world. It consists of a massive international network of professionally trained peer support volunteer flight attendants overseen by mental health professionals. 1-800-424-2406
FADAP (Flight Attendant Drug and Alcohol Program): This is a specialized, peer-led initiative specifically designed for the flight attendant profession to provide a safe, supported pathway for substance abuse recovery and a return to the cabin. 855-33-FADAP
AMAS (Aviation Medicine Advisory Service) and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) via NATCA: NATCA partners with AMAS and CISM to provide controllers with free, confidential access to aerospace medicine physicians. If a controller is struggling with their mental health or needs to discuss a new medication (like an antidepressant), they can consult with an AMAS doctor privately or before reporting anything to the FAA. 202-505-2476 [email protected]
Controller Peer Support (CPS) Program in Development: Recognizing the need to overcome the stigma of seeking help, the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) and the FAA established a collaborative workgroup to build a formal CPS program. 202-505-2476 [email protected]

BHOP (Behavioral Health Optimization Program): This on base program integrates Internal Behavioral Health Consultants (IBHCs) directly into primary care clinics. They provide short-term, solution-focused interventions for stress, insomnia, and anxiety without automatically generating a formal mental health record that might ground a pilot.
US Air Force Program MAPS (Military Aviator Peer Support): A newly established, confidential, peer-to-peer program designed specifically for military aircrews.
Currently, our maintenance friends are largely under-represented in the mental health space, lacking the aviation-specific "peer-to-peer" connection found in pilot and flight attendant programs.
If you are part of a unionized workforce, your union’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is going to be your strongest advocate. Both the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) and the Transport Workers Union (TWU) have dedicated EAP coordinators.
Magellan Employee Assistance Program (EAP) hotline is a free, confidential 24/7 phone service that is answered by a licensed clinician. They connect employees and their eligible dependents with licensed professionals and specialists. It provides immediate support for mental health concerns, work-life balance issues, and personal crises. 1-800-234-1327
